LCCT was our destination in d wee hours of d morning for our flight to Jakarta. D group for this trip is led by Prof Mansor (d Dean) n consisted of d dep deans n HoDs, while I represented d URP dept...with my Sayang tagging along of course. We would be visiting 4 uni in Jakarta n Bandung...to see their programmes n d possibility of engaging in students/staff/research xchange n collaboration.
somewhere over d water separating mainland Asia n Jawa island
alhamdullillah...selamat landing in Soekarno-Hatta int'l airport...this is their statutes not far from d airport. u may notice of d lingering haze in d air...probably d city is always covered with jerubu
houses...very likely squatters... lining along d river...which is being deepened by d kapal koreks... These people probably suffer d most during any major flooding in d city
Jakarta n machet (traffic jam)...is synonymous. N many 'traders' took this opportunity to sell macam2 stuff to d stuck motorists...such as that kakak (abang laa...) in black n white cap...captive market la kata kan...
...n one way of Jakarta overcoming this congestion woe is by providing busway (buslane)...n with a staff in charge of security in every Transjakarta bus. We were told that if any passenger lost something while on d bus...hfon, wallets, etc...no one would be allowed to disembark until d missing item is found
Our 1st stop was this area which was originally developed by d Dutch. This building is now d Museum Sejarah Jakarta
fotoing in front of d museum...
hihi...me n d ladies. At d back is d Pos Indonesia building...facing d museum n with a plaza separating them
n of course...there's a lot of hawkers around
d sign stated that d building was constructed in 1707 n completed in 1710 by d Dutch
we met a lot of students sketching within d plaza...may be a fav hangout for them. This particular dude looks quite garang...hihi
...afterwards...it was makan time...we hopped on d bus n shifted to Salero Jumbo...specialising in Padang food
fags must be cheap here...as this sign is using d real thing
foto op at Salero Jumbo...it was raining cats n dogs by that time
we headed to Mini Indonesia next...where all cultures within d country were showcased...but as it was raining, we just ronda d place on d bus. Snapped this Minangkabau house from d bus...
on d way to d hotel, d bus made a detour for gas in this village...
...while @ d gas station, I stepped out of d bus n checked things out. BTW, ban is tayar...so...that's tampal tayar for u...
then we joined another infamous machet to get to our hotel... U may notice d signs over d street...Ancol is where they have various theme parks while Tj Priok is d city's port
after checking in @ Golden Boutique Hotel, this is d scene observed from our room...Jakartans coming back from work. U can see several monuments in d background...as well as d jerubu
...after a breather...we r ready to go for dinner...this is at d hotel's lobby. We were seating on a Chesterfield which have been favored by some of our friends from Notts.
d group looking very satisfied after a hearty meal...
