...Ciao Italia - Day 7 - Pisa n Firenze

there it is...d bell tower...yang leaning sikit
Vespucci...credited with discovering America
Santa Maria del Fiore fascade
It is d 7th day of our trip n today's agenda is to try n cover 2 cities as they r not that far from Prato...Pisa n Firenze. D train ride to Pisa is about 1.5 hours only...n d main feature there is its leaning tower of course...already considered as a symbol for Italia. We set on foot upon disembarking from Pisa Centrale (train station) n crossed d Arno River in order to get to d tower. It really is a tourist magnet as thousands of them were flocking there...along with us. N d favorite pose while there...u can see from d images below...hihi.

After a couple of hours in Piazza del Duomo, where d tower was, we left for Pisa Centrale, this time on a bus. Our next destination is Firenze (often considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance), which we think is one of d nicest Italian cities to visit. While Pisa is known for d tower, one of d landmarks for Firenze is d medieval Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge in Italian). D city bus offers a numbers of routes just for tourists n u can get info about where to go from d bus map available for free...n informative too.

Other sites we visited are d Uffizi (Office) gallery, n buildings within Piazza della Signoria including Palazzo Vecchio n Santa Maria del Fiore. It was already dark when we left Firenze for Prato...covering 2 cities in a day...letih gak ye. think that Firenze is among d most outstanding city that we have seen in Italia, but probably we'll explore it further some other time in d future, insyaAllah...

on d way from Prato to Pisa

oredi in Pisa...crossing d bridge over Arno Rive n onwards to Piazza del Duomo

Piazza del Duomo n d famous tower...n this is d most repeated posing style here...trying konon2nye to prevent d tower from leaning further...

here u can c d many tourists thronging this location. On d right r d many many souvenir shops. D grass is off-limit...d security there will chase u if u dare to step in (some did!!). D buildings n d tower r made of marble...Italian marble...tu sebab dia leaning kott...beraattt

info on d tower started in d 10th century

foto op with d well-know structure. While there we could see that cleaning work of d tower was on-going as it has been exposed to various pollutants all these years

after a bus ride from Piazza del Duomo to Pisa Centrale, we were on d train again...this time to ronda2 in Firenze. In d above...d farm, d residential area n d hills n mountains of Tuscany

another observation...d construction of a single dwelling unit here would usually engage d service of a tower crane (seen quite a number of examples while in Italia) hoist d various materials...probably bcoz they rely less on manual labour (high cost n probably highly unionised)...unlike d practice in M'sia

here we r in Firenze after about 1.5 hours train-travel from Pisa...this was taken while on one of d city's bus for tourist...crossing over Arno River, d same river that runs thru Pisa. U can see Palazzo Vecchio's tower on d left

on d Ponte Vecchio...lots of businesses here...I read that d shops here originally belonged to butchers

one side of Ponte Vecchio...while on d river someone was canoeing

foto op with d Old Bridge

d other side of Ponte Vecchio...may be they's even people living on d bridge

n as usual...lots of artists lining up along d area...nice sketch kann

crossing d road n moving next to Uffizi gallery...this guy use of colors is great...eventho he can use only his left eye...his right eye was covered with a patch

nice drawing but segan nak tanya d pricing...

this is Palazzo Vecchio...situated right within Piazza della Signoria

n not far from it is Santa Maria del Fiore...with d dome said to be d world's biggest dome built with brick and mortar...built about 600 years ago

it was oredi quite late when we headed to Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station n take d next train for Prato. Grazie Firenze...
