...on d road again...Sg Petani n surroundings..Pt 2
Saturday...Tg. Dawai...bbq time
Sunday...@ MPSP 'current' building
The main reason for us to be this far north is for my students' studio project...namely to come up with a Special Area Plan [SAP]. As highlighted in d previous entry, 4 sites were identified n a group is assigned to each...Sungai Petani [SP] town centre, SP linear city development, Tg. Dawai [tourism] and Jeniang [hinterland]. Hopefully they have gained a lot n at d same time enjoyed themselves while there...
Last Thursday...students preparing to board d 2 buses to SP
I myself joined d group only on Friday...here we were having discussion @ d Northern Lodge where d students were based while in SP.
Saturday...on d way to Jeniang along with my Sayang n Mariana, we made a detour in Gurun to see Naza's assembly area...a fine example of regional planning...encouraging investment in rural areas n act as d catalyst for d area.
Here we were with students assigned to cover SP town itself. This is one of d latest commercial development in SP...Village Mall...eventho there's nothing village-y about it...
...n we met up with other students later...here d traffic counting is in progress
d SAP may involve some proposed conservation works as well...such as this HSBC. But d red-white checker reminded me of Purina's logo
d SP's clock tower...one of d town's landmark
this really looked like it should be somewhere more upmarket in Klang Valley...but it is in SP. Hopefully it'll stay well-maintained years later
We arrived in Tg. Dawai late in d afternoon after a detour to Lembah Bujang...n d students got d bbq going under Lukman's supervision
Sunday...briefing by d local authority...n lots of questions asked by d students. Lets just wait for their proposals later in d semester...
