...jengok d Orient jap...Day 1 : S'pore n HK

last nite...sleep over @ Changi airport...
...n we r in HK...
later in d afternoon...on a vintage ferry over Victoria Harbour

Our papers were accepted for the 10th Asian Urbanization Conference n this time d host is d University of Hong Kong. We took d opportunity to take some time to see what HK has to offer as well as to participate in d Technical Tour to China's Pearl River Delta...particularly d areas of Shenzhen n Guangzhou.

With SIA having a promotion on its HK flights, we opted to take up d offer...n we even spent a nite in Changi airport, at its excellent Ambassador Transit Hotel. One thing about this hotel, it is located right smack within d terminal...but u won't be disturbed by d roar of d jet engines as all rooms r sound-proof. Looking at d operation of d airport, me think that KLIA has a lot of ground to cover if it wants to compete head on...

last nite...we were in S'pore's Changi airport...

Interior view of d Departure Hall of Changi's Terminal 3. Take note of d plants-covered structure to d right of d escalator...

...actually it is d u can actually look outside of d window while doing your thingy @ d urinal...n others can observe u going about your business too!! Anyway, d loo certainly looks very tidy indeed.

there r many many shops to linger around...n they r open really is a thriving city within itself

there's even a Ferrari store there [not selling d kereta laa...just 'lifestyle items'], n this real F1 exhaust goes for more than S$20k...

our flight left S'pore this morning at about 8.30am n slightly more than 3 hours later we r here in HK. This is d dedicated hiway for d HK Int'l airport

n being a mountainous and island region, there's a series of tunnel connecting d various localities, either thru d base of d mountain or under d sea e.g. d tunnel connecting HK island and Kowloon. But there r not multi-tasking as KL's SMART tunnel kira KL 'menang' in this matter laa...

here we r in d hustle n bustle of HK island. U can observe d many modes of public transportation available there...n they r cheap too. D tram, for example, cost u only HKD2 [about RM0.90] per trip

after checking in @ South Pacific Hotel in Wan Chai, we decided to venture out to Kowloon...using d famous Star Ferry service to cross Victoria Harbour. Tambang-wise, it was less than HKD3 per person.

this uncle looks like an actor from one of those slasher movies...actually he was waiting for d right moment to cangkuk our ferry n tied it down safely. But that it one scary looking cangkuk anyhow...

here we r near d Arena of Stars, a mere stone throw away from d ferry terminal...u can enjoy d HK skyline from this location

n while there we also came across a filming in progress...of this lass on d junk boat...probably for a music video kott

n for HK film industry award, this is d replica of its trophy...another interpretation of d Hollywood's Oscar. Basically it is a lady wrapped in film at 'strategic places'

among d hand prints u can find here are Jackie Chan, Jet Li n many more...

...u can also see Mr. Lee in his famous pose

next we just took a bus to cruise along Nathan Road, Kowloon's well known shopping haven...this is d Peninsula, rated as one of d best hotel in d world...nice limos they have

we also came across Masjid Kowloon..very prominently displayed in many HK's tourist maps. D masjid is situated next to Kowloon Park.

we were wondering why so many people in this part of Nathan Road n later found out that this is Mongkok. People attracted to this place for its open market...ala pasar malam laa...but with various specialisation

n every nite d skyline in HK performs a light show...from 8pm n lasted for 13 minutes. One of d best venue to witness this is from d Arena of Stars. D low HK clouds made it a much more dramatic scenery

of course we have to have a foto op there...I just chased after a DSLR lugging tourist n ask him [politely laa...] to snap a couple of fotos for us.

Anyway, it was quite tiring after our walk-about here n there. But it was a good start nonetheless...yesterday we were in Tanah Air...last nite n this morning in Temasek [now known as Singapura laa...]...n today we r in HK...ponat denn...
