...jengok d Orient jap...Day 2 : HK

LV anyone?...they have few outlets in HK
inside Time Square
D&G made its presence felt too

Today we continue venturing n checking out what HK has to offer. Among others we took a closer look to some of HK famous landmarks in its financial district, experienced more of its public transportation n did some [or was it a lot...hhmm] of nyopping as well.

Our morning start with a ride on d antique but efficient HK's tram. It seems that all of d trams r in fact a mobile advertising board...for instance d one above was promoting d upcoming Singapore F1. We decided to travel all d way til d end of tram's line n to only disembark on its way back...

while on d tram we came across some maintenance work on d track n we had to go extremely slow at this stretch. BTW, d domed structure in d background is d Legislative Council Building. D coastline of d Victoria Harbour used to be not too far off from this building but thanks to d extensive reclamation works, that now has shifted more than a few hundred metres away

got off d tram near HSBC as we have seen this building in many documentaries n it is time for a closer look. It really is modular in design n was one of Norman Foster's products, just like d Univ Teknologi Petronas building [which I've yet to visit...bila yea...]

view within d HSBC...found out later that there is no elevator in this building...only it is totally modular then huh. N FYI, the huge frame above was made in a Glasgow shipyard... [update on d elevator thingy: refer comment below...28.08.09]

n of course we had to pose with one of d HSBC's 2 lions...this one is called Stitt. D other one is named Stephen, with the mouth open, n can be found at d other end of d square

This is another famous skyscraper of HK...I.M. Pei-designed Bank of China looks even better at nite with its lighting system on

took another tram later n stop at d above beach front...nOT...well, actually it was just a beach-like setting in front of Time Square, a shopping centre near our hotel...sharing d name with d one in NY n KL [with Berjaya added in front of course for d later]

our next stop was Masjid Ammar. It is a multi-story masjid n we had chosen a hotel [South Pacific] near it as our base...

...because there is a halal restaurant on its 5th floor. Actually, we found about this masjid thru Farah AF's Rasa Halal Orient tv show...n decided to look for a hotel near it. As u can see, this outlet is very well-patronised

made a stop @ d local 7-11 too...for some bahan kunyahan-cum-jajan. As everything else in HK, even its 7-11 is cramp...probably about 1/3 to 1/2 d size of Malaysia's 7-11...

after a breather @ our temporary abode, we were on d move Kowloon...n another ferry ride. It was quite cloudy...n was thinking about d recent typhoon Morakot that devastated Taiwan few days ago...but alhamdullillah...everything was AOK.

Our 1st stop on d mainland was 1881 Heritage in Tsim Sha Tsui...a bunch of very high end commercial just look see look see je laa...

...actually this used to be d HQ for HK's marine police, from d 1880s til quite recently jugak la. It has been converted into another magnet for tourists in us

next we proceeded to d many many shops parallel to Nathan Road. U may notice d nyonya pushing her cart above...there's a lot of that over here...people delivering this n that on carts

n d nyopping session resume just like clock-work... many to chose from...this is @ Esprit factory outlet...several can be found in HK

n of course...HK has its share of kereta power as well...a Porch n a soup-up Merc [but d racing red taxi was faster]...

...n a Murcie as well...with a low-riding Cayenne at its rear

it is late...d legs r getting we headed back to d ferry station...but with a stop over again @ 1881 Heritage for a nite foto shoot. Tmrw nak gi mana pulak ehh...
