...jengok d Orient jap...Day 3 : HK-Technical Tour n Mongkok

UHK's Assoc Prof Dr Chan led d Tech Tour
...Planning Gallery
d blue house...with balcony, not so common in HK
Our conference activity starts today with a Technical Tour in d afternoon. While waiting for this tour, we just jalan2 here n there sekejap n headed to d meeting point @ Island Pacific hotel afterward...

Scene from a pasar not far from our hotel...lots n lots of oink oink. That Indon ladies were checking out d fruits but d proximity to d meat section is quite worrying...probably not for them though

passed by this uncle...old school style n free hand some more. is Technical Tour time. We gathered in Island Pacific hotel n then joined d rest of d participants on d bus. Our 1st stop was d Central Pier

view of HK's skyline from d Pier. We were informed that HK's shoreline has been shifted 600 metres thru areas to build on. The original shoreline was near d little domed-building on d right. More reclamation works r in d pipeline but there have been lantang voices concerning d impact to d environment...

D Int'l Financial Ctr...this used to be d tallest bldg in HK, but now there's another yet to be completed structure grabbing that title in Kowloon [...of similar design though]

Next stop...HK Planning n Infrastructure Exhibition Gallery

one of d models on display there

d main display hall...nice timber feature wall ehh

next on d agenda was d area of Wah Chai. D blue building where d bride was posing allegedly used to be d clinic of Wong Fei Hong...that name would ring a bell if u follow Chinese movies [Jet Li was in d lead role]

d main reason why we toured Wan Chai was because it is undergoing a major urban renewal exercise. Here we were briefed by our guide, Dr. Chan called him Mr. Handsome, one of d planning postgrad students of UHK. On his right is Siti, a postgrad student at HK Polytech Uni n a participant of d conference

taking a breather kejap...this was in front of an egg tart outlet...many participants tried it out...n they said that it was yummy

We also climbed up to this area...n run into this HK 'afro-less' alleycat. There is a house there that Mr. Handsome said was suppose to be haunted...d jumping kind agaknye. We parted company with d rest of d group later n after rehat sebentar @ our hotel we were on d move

...Mongkok. There r people everywhere...

came across this lady who was modelling for a group of I just tumpang semangkuk je...

Mongkok is known for its many many n variety of shopping areas. BTW, that is Dr Haslina of UM, arrived with her husband yesterday n joining us on our 'nite technical tour'. This was @ Ladies outdoor affair n d standard procedure was for u to haggle to half of d selling least. D act of walking away after an unsuccessful haggling also worked sometimes...d trader would pull your hand back to his/her corner n agreed to your price

here d ladies were in Milan Station...there's a lot of this type of outlets here [there's one similar shop in our Ikano BTW...]...selling '2nd hand/almost new' premium merchandise...LV, Gucci, D&G, etc etc...u get d picture right

ok...time to head home...via d MTR [underground]. Dah tired oredi with all d walking here n there...with both d day as well as nite technical tour...need to get ready for tomorrow's presentation...
